 What is Shanan Home Education? Shanan is a non-profit organization started by Bill and Mary Ann Malone. Our purpose is to encourage you in your commitment to provide the best possible Christian education for your children through homeschooling. We try to listen to the needs expressed by homeschoolers and offer a wide variety of activities and services to help meet those needs.

When and Where will classes be held? Classes will be held every Wednesday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church, 1030 Jackson Avenue Chesapeake, VA 23324

Are you moving Homeschool Plus? No. We started with the assistance of Homeschool Plus (Ingleside Baptist Church), and will continue a cooperative relationship. We are just starting our second year and have been excited to watch God work and bless many families through our program just as he has at HSP.

What grades will we support? Pre-K to 8th (except Karate for Christ - ages 6 to adult).

Will you be a lot different than Homeschool Plus? Not really. Many of our policies are similar, though we have modified a few things here and there. Also, we are trying to ensure we accommodate some of the existing policies of our host church (South Norfolk Congregational Christian), especially in the area of child protection.

Who teaches the classes? The staff is made of teachers who have a special love for homeschooling and in many cases are themselves homeschooling parents. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue the quality and dedication to excellence in education.
