Teacher Contact Information and Bios (2010-2011 School Year) Karen Babcock - Graduated from ODU with a bachelor of science in business administration. She was a director in the children's ministry in her church for 7 years. Certifications include: RYT200 (registered yoga teacher with a minimum of 200 hours training), Registered with Yoga Alliance, Group Exercise certification through the YMCA; Pilates certified through IFTA; Yoga certified through YogaFit; A hybrid certification called PiYo through Powder Blue Productions; YMCA principles of Healthy Lifestyles and Foundations of Group Exercise; Cycle certified trough IFTA and American Heart association Heart Saver/AED certification (CPR). Over 250 hours of yoga training including specialty certifications for children and seniors or those with special conditions, as well as approximately 40 hours in Pilates training. She played competitive field hockey, tennis and was a cheerleader in high school and played softball recreationally through her college years. She has been homeschooling since 2005 and teaches Pilates and yoga at many facilities throughout the area.
Michele Emerick - Senior at Regent University school of Communication and arts. Three years at Central Bible College. Interpreter for Deaf Net (Western Maryland). Kelly V. Jones - Kelly recently came to the Hampton Roads area from Lakeland, FL. She teaches strings classes, private strings and piano lessons and Music Theory 1 and 2 at Young Musicians of Virginia in Virginia Beach. Kelly graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance. In Lakeland, FL she taught private cello and piano lessons in Central Florida and was also a member of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra. Miss Jones has been in the music ministry all her life and seeks to glorify and serve Jesus in all she does. Barbara Kelly - Barbara has an Associates degree in Business Administration. She has worked in several ministries devoted to teaching the gospel to children within the Shanan home church (SNCCC) as well as a public school Christian outreach program. She loves to teach and believes that children will love to learn when taught in a way unique to his or her personality. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies Degree from Excelsior College in New York. Jodi is the Children’s Pastor at the Chesapeake First Church of the Nazarene and is very active with her children. She believes that children are truly a gift from God and should be treated with respect, love, and humility. She has worked with children of all ages and abilities.
Amy Luke - Amy is a stay-at-home mom of two adopted boys. She and her husband are members of Shanan's home church (SNCCC). She has a B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, 1989, and worked as a government contractor until 2000. With Shanan, she has taught Art, K-1st Math and English, Pre-K studies and Chapel. Interests are choir, Dyan Marshall - A stay home mom and a mother of four.
