Teacher Contact Information and Bios (2008-2009 School Year) Karen Babcock - Graduated from ODU with a bachelor of science in business administration. She has been a director in the children's ministry in her church for 7 years. Certifications include: Group Exercise certification through the YMCA; IPilates certified through IFTA; Yoga certified through YogaFit; A hybrid of fusion certification called PiYo through Powder Blue Productions; YMCA principles of Healthy Lifestyles and Foundations of Group Exercise; and American Heart association Heart Saver/AED certification (CPR). Played field hockey, tennis and was a cheerleader in high school and played softball recreationally through her college years. She has been homeschooling for 4 years. Michele Emerick - Senior at Regent University school of Communication and arts. Three years at Central Bible College. Interpreter for Deaf Net (Western Maryland). Anne Jester - BS in Statistics, Minors in Mathematics, Sociology and Secondary Education, 15 years experience leading worship in churches and small groups. Amy Luke - B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University. An adoptive stay-at-home mom with a love for arts and crafts having experience in sewing clothing, crafts and costumes, paper crafting and jewelry making. Participated in craft shows and worked vacation bible school crafts for several years. Alison Malpass - Attended Riverside City College, Riverside, CA and Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach, VA. Trained in Montessori pre-school at YWAM (Youth with a Mission) base, Cyprus. Taught pre-school for missionaries in Israel. Has taught pre-Sunday School and is currently a Sunday School teacher at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, Suffolk, VA. Homeschool educator for 10 years, pre-school - 8th grade. Dyan Marshall - A stay home mom and a mother of four. Has been the Church pianist (SNCCC) for 17 years. From 1999 to 2001 - taught French to 4th and 5th grade at Cornerstone Christian. Phone: 757-543-4016 Pamela Nichols - A homeschooling mother of two daughters. She is a freelance writer and editor who serves in several ministries in her church. Gail Powers - B.A. in Speech, Capital University. Ginnie Romero - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Messiah College with a 3.60 GPA. I have taught homeschoolers and provided administrative services in local co-ops and 4-H groups and taught and assisted in Wednesday evening children’s programs and vacation Bible school at First Baptist Church of Norfolk for several years each. I have been a home school educator for 14+ years, preschool-grade 12. Math and science are fun for me! I also enjoy Bible study, reading, photography, art, music, needlework, foreign languages, hiking, and swimming. I am currently taking a Bible class from Christian Counseling and Training Center and an art class from Gordon School of Art. |
